Tourists and locals alike flock to the beaches, to relax, to walk or to enjoy water sports. There are many wonderful beaches all over Cyprus, and they’re all special in their own way, but if you fancy taking a trip off the beaten track, to discover a more secluded beach hideaway, read on. We’ve highlighted our pick of the lesser known beaches of the South Coast of Cyprus that are well worth checking out…

 

Lara Beach – Paphos

This beach is only accessible with a 4x4 vehicle, so that’s something to bear in mind if you’re hiring a car in Cyprus. Due to the inaccessibility, you can visit this beach and literally be the only souls there. It’s the perfect escape, to unwind and imagine you’re on a desert island. This beach is also the breeding ground for Green Turtles which are a protected species.

 

Zapolo Beach - Limassol

With the high cliffs behind you, and the ocean ahead, when you stand on this beach and take a moment to admire your surroundings, you’ll find it breath-taking. It really is a stunning beach. There’s a magical feeling to this beach too, just under the water you can see the remains of an old port and piers, you’re literally looking down on history.

 

Asprokremmos – Yiannakis Beach – Paphos

This expansive beach is perfect for a lovely long walk, with the breeze in your hair and panoramic ocean views, it’s the ideal spot to clear your mind. This beach is quiet, but not as remote as some on this list, and so you’ll also find several lovely bars and restaurants on the beach front. A great place to spend an evening, and transport to and from the centre of Paphos is readily available via taxi or the regular bus service.

 

Pachyammos Beach – Paphos

This beach is located close to the village of Pachyammos. A peaceful beach that is usually very quiet. Take time also to visit the nearby church of Agios Rafael who was believed to have healing powers, thus making the church a popular place of pilgrimage. 

 

Alaminos Beach – Larnaca

Alaminos beach is a true hidden gem. It’s hidden from sight, and most tourists don’t even know it’s there. But now you know the secret, you can visit it for yourself and enjoy this piece of paradise. If you like swimming in the sea, this is the perfect spot. Despite being hidden away, this beach does have some facilities such as sunbed hire and a kiosk for drinks.
