1. Cape Greco National Forest Park

The Cape Greco National Forest Park has a rugged beauty. Set over 385 hectares on the east coast of the island, there’s certainly plenty to do here. It’s ideal for hiking and there are also some excellent cycling trails.  This park is full of magical highlights, you never quite know what you’re going to find around the next corner. Set high on the cliffside is the pretty white and blue chapel of Agia Anargyroi. This beautiful building is certainly photogenic, and you’ll also enjoy some great views across the sea from this elevated spot. Also, no trip to Cape Greco would be complete without a visit to the mysterious sea caves. It is quite a climb down to the caves, but there are steps with rope handrails to help you. You can swim in the sea and snorkel here too.

2. Petra tou Romiou (Aphrodite’s Rock) National Forest Park

For the perfect holiday photograph, the gorgeous scenery of the Petra tou Romiou National Forest Park can’t be surpassed. According to legend, this is the birthplace of Aphrodite, goddess of love and beauty, making this a very romantic location to visit with your loved one. The area around Aphrodite’s Rock can get busy in tourist season, so it’s often best to visit earlier in the day, although it is also a magnificent spot for watching the sunset. The trails though are seldom busy, so you can always find a tranquil oasis to enjoy a picnic, just remember to take your rubbish back home with you to protect this area of outstanding natural beauty.

3. Troodos National Forest Park

For some of the very best views in all of Cyprus, head to the mountainous Troodos National Forest Park. This park is unique in that during the winter months, you can ski here! A secret that not all visitors to Cyprus know. You can be skiing down the slopes in the morning, then head to the beach in the afternoon. Not many holiday destinations can offer you that! The park covers 90 sq. km so it’s a good idea to have a plan in place and choose a trail that’s the right length and difficulty level for your party. You’ll find information on all trails at the visitor centre in Troodos village, so that’s a good starting point, and you can learn more about the area here too.
